Therapists for college students near 02467
I enjoy working with a wide variety of college students, individuals grieving pet loss, and those in technical fields throughout Massachusetts, given my own background as a software engineer. I also specialize in working with individuals on the autism spectrum, including neurodivergent adults. My approach comes from a strengths based perspective. I believe that individuals have the ability to make significant life changes by identifying the sources of their current difficulties, understanding why their coping methods may have made good sense at the time, and learning new ways of being in the world that fit with who they are now and that support their growth and heart's desire. My role is to provide a supportive, trust-based environment and help individuals create the lives they wish to live. I use a largely psychodynamic perspective, often integrating mindfulness and cognitive behavioral approaches. I'm interested in research areas of positive psychology, the neurobiology of connection, adaptive solitude, therapeutic journal writing, and the role of nutrition and fitness on mood, mental health, and well-being. I look forward to meeting you!
I am committed to fostering personal well-being among my clients. My professional path has been diverse, ranging from supporting teens and young adults grappling with addiction to serving in behavioral schools and providing therapy in non-profit organizations. I specialize in treating co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, and promoting lifestyles of balanced nutrition and movement. I am currently working towards a certificate in Nutritional Psychology and am dedicated to providing comprehensive care that addresses both mind and body. My therapeutic approach is rooted in creating an empowering and non-judgmental environment, using evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, positive psychology, integrative medicine concepts, mindfulness, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
Hello, I am an emotionally focused therapist interested in helping people improve their view of self and other, and to get more joy out of their relationships. I have a particular interest in working with couples and healing childhood trauma. Between the ages of 18-22, many people enter a pivotal period of independence and self-exploration. It is often a time when young adults begin to reflect on their childhood and family relationships with greater depth, clarity, and emotional awareness. How these relationships are processed can have lifelong impact. I can help support this reflective process so that it leads to healing, growth, and a stronger sense of self.
Starting therapy can be an exciting and daunting process. Working with a therapist allows you to have an unbiased third party listen to your story, validate your feelings and emotions and help foster and provide insight and support. Therapy can help you learn new strategies and techniques to help you better tolerate distress and view thoughts, feelings and situations differently. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where we can work together to identify and process issues you have been facing. Together we can reflect on previous thinking patterns and behaviors that have led to distress and discuss new options and possibilities.

I work with Students at all leveles and my approach is both flexible and eclectic. I often use Brief Intermittent Therapy. I find that it works best for people to come in for a defined brief period of time (such as 6-8 weeks) and focus on one specific area that needs attention; the time in therapy is more concentrated and effective. When the need arises, I welcome clients back for a "tune up." My clinical work with students and families began in the early 1990’s. Much of my career has centered on helping kids in school settings. I also work with teachers and staff. I have successfully supported clients during times of crisis, transition, and struggle. I can help with anxiety, depression, peers, LGBTQ+ issues, and post-concussion support. I invite you to reach out and see if we would work well together. I am equally comfortable working via teletherapy or in-person therapy. My office is located in Harwich Center on Cape Cod. I'm happy to discuss what works best for you.
