Therapists for college students near 94110
In the therapeutic space, I aim to help clients develop a deeper understanding of their difficulties through exploration of historical and interpersonal experiences. As a product of this exploration, we identify patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that play a role in the development and maintenance of stress. With this new insight and understanding, and the application of specific coping skills and strategies, we are able to collaboratively work toward making the changes they desire in their lives. I enjoy working with individuals of all backgrounds and specialize in: depression, anxiety, grief/loss, cultural issues, and relational difficulties. As a South Asian immigrant, I am passionate about working with immigrants and adult children of immigrants who experience stressors such as: balancing a bicultural/multicultural identity, coping with generational trauma, navigating the barriers of a new country, and managing family expectations vs individual/personal desires. I also enjoy helping couples who seek to understand how personal family dynamics and experiences impact their relationship, or simply desire to enhance feelings of connectedness through healthy emotional expression, communication, and effective conflict resolution.
How would your life change if you started therapy today? Right now, you have taken your first step towards overall health and personal growth. I offer a highly individualized approach to therapy so you get exactly what you want from therapy. I will not mold you to fit my therapeutic model but will individualize an approach that works best with your personality, needs, and goals. My interest in mental health began from a desire to understand how our experiences shape who we are. This curiosity grew into a passion for helping others explore these influences, gain deeper insight, and create healthier ways of relating to themselves and the people around them. The more we understand ourselves, the more we can understand others. Whether you’re coming to therapy during a difficult time or seeking support for accountability and personal growth, what matters most is simply showing up for yourself. That act of showing up can be one of the hardest things we do. Yet it is also essential, not only for your own well-being, but for your ability to show up more fully for the people and things you care about. I view therapy as an act of kindness toward yourself, an intentional pause to check in, look inward, and take meaningful steps toward becoming your best self. Over time, this process can create a ripple effect of growth, both within yourself and across all areas of your life.
The first step, asking for help, can be the hardest. You might be asking, what will I encounter in psychotherapy? In the beginning, we build a safe, caring, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Together we discover your therapeutic goals. In time, you process difficult emotions and develop coping methods so that you can make well-informed decisions regarding your life path.
Many of the students I work with feel overwhelmed by their thoughts, anxious about the future, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break. Some deal with intrusive thoughts, constant worry, or panic that gets in the way of school, relationships, or sleep. Others are coping with past experiences, burnout, or the pressure to “keep it all together.” I offer a space where you don’t have to pretend you’re fine. Together, we slow things down, understand what’s happening in your mind and body, and build tools that help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life.
My clients usually approach me when they are ready to make a change in their lives. They are experiencing conflicts, inside themselves or with others, and are looking for an empathic, flexible and dynamic clinician to provide support and guidance. Hello, I am Dr. Keisha C. White, a Clinical and School Psychologist in private practice (virtual/telehealth therapy) at KCW Psychological Services and MLH Psychology. My work has focused on helping individuals with anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships (family, platonic, romantic), work-life balance, life transitions, special-education assessment, Individual Education Plans (IEP), and fostercare/adoption/transracial adoption therapy. I earned my Bachelor Degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey, double majoring in Dance and Psychology. I trained as a psychologist in New Jersey, New York City, and California. I completed an APA accredited internship at Pacific Clinics and Post Doctoral Fellowship at both Harbor UCLA Medical Center and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. I have worked in hospital (inpatient and residential), college psychological services, outpatient clinics, as well as, community, school, and home-based settings. As an African American woman growing up in multicultural and ethnically diverse communities, I understand the interrelated impact of diverse cultures, individual differences, and environmental contexts on the development and worldviews of individuals. I recognize the importance yet challenges with having multifaceted identities (e.g., race, age, sexual identity, religion, socio-economic status, education, personal interests…etc) and remaining “true to self,” while engaging in mainstream culture. With this knowledge, I continue to instill in my clients (as well as myself) the importance of maintaining mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness practices, as well as, feelings of HOPE, self-acceptance, and the understanding that the experiences I have had and the choices I have made are not finite and do not solely define my identity. My clients and I are both “agents of change,” constantly progressing, and continuously developing through this journey called life. I am focused on facilitating hope and healing through mental health and wellness practices for my clients, as well as underrepresented groups in the mental health space. I connect with my clients through my personal experiences, and utilize my professional training and creativity to assist my clients with developing and implementing individualized effective strategies to address their challenges. "I am you, I see you, I care” I provide therapy services to residents of CA, NY, NJ, MA, and CT Please email (kcwhite@kcwpsychologicalservices.com) me or call me (323-207-5454) to schedule a free consultation session. I look forward to speaking with you!
I work best with students who feel stressed, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the next steps in their life—whether that’s managing academic pressure, navigating relationships, or figuring out what comes after graduation. Welcome! I'm glad you are here and you deserve the highest praise for taking this first step. I believe mental health is a spectrum of experiences and part of what makes us human. We can experience times when there are challenges to our mental health and times of flourishing. We all deserve a place to talk with someone who we know will not judge or shame us, but instead walk along side us, holding hope and strength until we can hold it ourselves. A bit about my approach to therapy: I offer approaches to therapy that are dynamic and relational in nature, incorporating a variety of modalities and perspectives (IFS, AEDP, Attachment based, etc). In our work together we can begin bringing awareness to the unconscious daily activity of the autonomic nervous system and how these bodily states impact our emotions and cognitions. What you can expect from our work together: A gentle space to land, recover, process, and heal from an unexpected change or difficult life season. We can be curious together not just about the “why” of an emotion but the “what” it feels like in the body and what the relationship with that emotion is. An encouraging voice on your journey to tend to, not only the needs of others, but also your own needs. A guide in cultivating curiosity and compassion for our stories and the ways they have shaped us.
Hi! I'm Ivy! It's nice to meet you unofficially. It takes a lot of courage to seek help, and I would be honored to help you on your journey to wellness. Each client I have worked with has special strengths that I have used to create a plan to address their concerns. It might be hard to see that you have strengths right now, but I'm confident that I can help you see strengths within yourself. As we move along the healing process and improve areas in our lives, sometimes we may feel challenged or unsure. That's why I'm here. I will walk right alongside you and encourage you along the way. It takes work to be you, and it's ok to get help when being you doesn't feel the best. You're not meant to go this alone because if you were, you would be the only person on this earth. It may feel like you're the only person going through your challenge, and that's completely understandable. Since we live in a community, we can use that community to help us heal. Sometimes, adding professional help to your community of support can be the key to progress. There is a part of you that believes that you can feel and be better. That's the part that led you here today. So take the next step and schedule a free consultation and see if we connect well.
