Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Welcome!! A seasoned therapist, I specialize in Complex Chronic illness (MCAS, ME/CFS, etc), perfectionism and people-pleasing, trauma resolution of all kinds (childhood, medical, sexual assault, narcissistic abuse). My approach is rooted in compassion and authenticity. I use advanced, effective modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, inner child healing, CBT, mindfulness.
My expertise is in helping people change how they feel or behave using evidence-based therapy and guidance. I focus on building a trusting relationship in which you feel open to discuss and work on whatever aspects of your life that you are hoping to change. People tell me they quickly feel at ease talking with me. Together we assess what feelings, thoughts or behaviors you would like to change or feel differently about or how you would like a relationship to be different. We make goals together to guide this process. I then guide you on how to make these changes, sustain them, and assess when you have attained them.

It's nice to meet you! My name is Erica (she/her), and I am a queer therapist working with students who struggle with disordered eating, relationship wounds, anxiety, and substance use. Are you searching for relief from constantly critiquing what you eat or what your body looks like? Then this is the space for you. Are you tired of feeling as though you aren't good enough? Or perhaps you've realized that you're coping with stress in ways that make you think "this isn't me...". Then this too, is the space for you. Many of my clients are college students who are seeking to find more internal stability, emotional regulation, and a deeper understanding and acceptance of who they are. Navigating college is difficult enough, and can feel even more overwhelming when you just can't seem to feel like you. Therapy can help you understand yourself better, feel more self-assured, and provide you with the tools to better manage internal and external stress. I offer a free 30 minute consultation so that we can meet and chat a bit more about how you need support. If you think we might be a good fit, I encourage you to reach out! Wishing you the best in wherever your mental health journey takes you.
I work with adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression or have been through tough times and want to heal from trauma. College specifically can be a difficult time emotionally, moving into adulthood and living on your own for the first time. Therapy can be a great way to process these changes, learn new ways to cope with stress, and get resources and support. I'd love to chat.

Whether you are struggling with perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, can't get over your last relationship, or just don't know if you want to keep going at all...I'm here to help. I struggled mentally throughout my late teens and early twenties; carrying around a lot of shame, self-doubt, and difficulty understanding why it appeared so much easier for everyone else. As a therapist, I am here to listen--not just to your stories, but for the swells of deep feeling that can lead to healing. Together, we will uncover your false beliefs that may be causing unneeded suffering and learn to trust your inner voice as a guide and companion.

I believe being a student and learning is an opportunity, and sometimes having a consistent therapist alongside can make the difference and help you get the most out of the opportunity. Being in school is not a singular thing, it’s not just about being the student in class who does assignments and gets the grade. In addition to being a student, there is one’s mental, physical, and emotional health, there are often bills to pay, and often the needs of others to meet. There are many other parts of ourselves and our lives that intersect with and function together with being in school. It can be overwhelming. It can be an adjustment. Transitions are big and important. There are our lives both in and out of school. Students are often also family members, caregivers, working individuals, or living with loss, trauma, depression, stress, or a medical illness. Students also learn differently, including some with accommodations for success. Some students find they need to confront an overwhelming need for perfection, or perhaps one is facing a particular challenge that is important to look at rather than look away. Therapy can be helpful when you are in school. I like to meet a client where they are at and begin by understanding you. I offer my warmth, and capacity to listen and to hold space even when the workable feels unworkable. I offer my experience and knowledge in counseling and in the creative art therapies, and hold value in an inclusive and affirmative lens. I enjoy working with students in higher education, meeting them in the places where school intersects with other parts of self that must be given care and attention, or to look more closely at or develop one’s career journey. I employ both talk therapy and the use of creative, expressive processes such as movement, poetry, art, music, story, and metaphor. The work is collaborative between counselor and client, being open about therapy goals and progress. I place value on your inherent strengths, and believe that we all hold motivation and an innate capacity to heal and be the very best versions of ourselves. Please call or email me to schedule a free consultation call.

I started working with elite performers in eating disorder and substance use treatment facilitates. Eventually, I became embedded in CU Boulder's Athletic Department, overseeing the mental health of all the student-athletes. "Finding that there is more to life, beyond food and fear" . . . is the heart of my therapeutic philosophy. Most of my clients live in fear around how much food they eat . . . or do not eat. Their relationship with food has devolved into one of pain and hiding versus pleasure and health. I use a Gestalt approach which gives voice to a person’s two conflicting parts: the part wanting to hold onto the old, comfortable eating patterns and their "benefits", and the part yearning to let go for permanent growth and healing. Clients ultimately can reach a place where they discover choice, freedom and a healthy relationship with food. What I offer, that is different, is a no-frills, direct approach . . backed with over 20 years of extensive counseling practice and hands-on experience working with a wide continuum of mental health and addictions issues. My approach works for many clients as I truly believe that effective counseling deals with "unfinished business" and patterns from our past, which play out in our lives today. Once identified and challenged, clients can then find "choice" and make the key changes that will truly sustain into the future. Most people who contact me are already aware that they are doing their best AND that something is not working and needs to change. Are you up for a change? Please note, I do not accept insurance through my private practice but you can find me on the Sondermind platform to potentially use your insurance.
You might feel like you're always searching for the thing, the right practice, the perfect insight, the magic fix that will finally make you feel whole, real, or enough. You’ve read all the books, done all the self-help, and still feel stuck in the same patterns, disconnected from yourself and the world around you. Or maybe you’re painfully aware of all your struggles but don’t know how to move forward. Here’s the truth: you don’t need to be fixed. Healing isn’t about doing more, working harder, or becoming someone different. It starts with being, with slowing down, noticing, and meeting yourself with curiosity rather than criticism I help clients shift from doing to being by building non-judgmental awareness and self-acceptance. This becomes solid ground from which real change can emerge. Using mindfulness, relational and bodily awareness we’ll explore how to soften survival patterns, expand your capacity to be with yourself, and cultivate a sense of aliveness, connection, and trust. I offer a grounded, relational space where we move with our patterns, not against them. Together, we’ll explore how your nervous system has adapted to past experiences and how to build skills that work with your unique body and life. If this resonates, reach out for a free consultation.I’d love to connect. I meet virtually and accept Medicaid and private pay
