Whether you are in acute distress or addressing long-standing problems, I know no one comes to therapy at their best. You will find no judgment here. As your psychologist, I will affirm your strengths—you have more than you realize!—and give you the tools to examine what's helping you, what's not, and how to change it. In these difficult times, managing life's demands is often challenging. Anxiety, depression, and frustration may feel overwhelming and impossible to overcome. Seemingly obvious solutions often make it worse. For example, worrying about being anxious or avoiding anxiety arousing situations only increase the problem. However, there are effective coping strategies that help. I offer practical alternatives in a warm and supportive environment.

I strive to help clients recognize their strengths in difficult times and promote healing from past hardships, stress, and addiction issues. Therefore it is vital to establish trust and acceptance between therapist and client. Several clients have told me that they appreciate my compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach. I am a licensed clinical social worker and addictions counselor with eleven years of experience working in mental health and addictions. My journey into the world of mental health services has come through my own struggles with adoption trauma, addiction, and long-term depression. Such conditions have made me an avid researcher of the human mind and heart, and a passionate experimenter of the means by which we transform both. This research and experimentation has (thankfully) fine-tuned my relationship skills and made me fluent in many languages of internal exploration. The most impactful of all of these have been the practices of meditation and somatic psychotherapy. I have spent nearly twenty years exploring them in depth and I would love to share them with you.

As a practicing psychologist for over 30 years (and a short time before that as an attorney), I understand the importance of having someone to speak with about our worries, questions, changes and even our daily lives. I see adults and adolescents who seek support in navigating stressful situations and not only reaching resolution on that issue, but also learning about themselves in deeper ways. I listen closely and with an open mind. I'm supportive and encouraging and help you make connections to patterns that can rework things you would like to change and do differently. Whether we are working on immediate problem resolution or exploring family/social dynamics, it's important that you feel understood, heard and supported in session. It's also important that you have direct, clear feedback that is experienced as helpful and insightful. Not every session is likely to be groundbreaking, but together, we can work toward defining and reaching your therapeutic goals.

Challenges are essential to growth. We all face challenges. The various challenges, crises, traumas we all inevitably encounter can create anxiety, depression, and disconnection. Unfortunately, labels and diagnoses can stop you from seeing that you are okay. As you are. Your felt experiences of hurt, when processed deeply, actually lead to self-discovery. Seeking help doesn’t mean that anything is necessarily wrong. In fact, expertise can guide you through these moments safely. Through somatic healing therapy, individuals and couples will find inner strength to start anew. I am a somatic therapist who counsels individuals and couples to honor who they truly are. Together, we explore new ways to cope with conflicts, and the challenges presented in day-to-day life. Bring all of yourself to therapy. You’ll create better relationships with yourself and others as a result. So, get comfortable. Let’s find what brings you joy and helps you feel fulfilled. Break through. Ultimately, this process is about loving and becoming more of yourself.
